Education Association

The New Albany Floyd County Education Association was founded in 1940 and is an affiliate of the Indiana State Teachers Association. It represents over 700 public school educators, making it the seventh largest education association in the state. The Education Association is recognized by the Board of School Trustees as the exclusive representative of all full-time certified school employees. In 1992 the school administration and the Association developed a cooperative bargaining strategy known as consensus building, which has received national attention and has been used as a model for other organizations.

The mission of the NAFCEA is

  • to provide the best educational opportunities possible for each student,
  • to promote throughout the school corporation and community a comprehensive understanding of the needs of public schools, and
  • to unite and protect the rights and welfare of each member.
